Mid-conference field trip, 7 September
Field trips will take place in the afternoon of 7th September, starting at 14:00. Buses will be outside the conference venue. Field trips are expected to end by 20:00 (8:00 pm) but depend on the conditions. Accompanying persons are invited to participate.
Five parallel field trips are planned, each one with a limited number of participants:
Option 1 – Companhia das Lezirias, an agroforest estate with cork oak forest, pines, and agricultural fields, it includes a visit to a winery (max 96 participants)
Option 2 – Monsanto Forest Park Biodiversity Area, an urban forest reserve managed for conservation. The visit will end near Mosteiro de Jerónimos, Belém (max 28 participants)
Option 3 – Serra Arrábida, a natural park on a small limestone massif with Mediterranean vegetation in the coastline (max 48 participants)
Option 4 – Mata de Valverde, a National Forest with cork oak, umbrella pine and Eucalyptus, the visit includes a walk through the woods and a presentation of the most important sanitary problems (max 48 participants)
Option 5 – Sintra, a mountain area west of Lisbon, near the coast harboring many cultural sites and beautiful Landscapes, it includes a visit to Monserrate Palace and woods. A stop will be made on the most western site in Europe, Cabo da Roca (max 58 participants)
